Tim O’Bryne is well known in the industry for his cattle consulting business and now as editor of the popular Working Ranch magazine. He first cowboyed in Canada and was ranch foreman at several ranches in Alberta and the US including a 90,000 head(!) feed yard. In 1995 he started a cattle consulting business, Calico Beef Consulting, and was one of the first experts specializing in humane livestock handling and transportation issues.
He’s written three books that I know of and many many articles in Western Horseman and Canadian Cattlemen magazines. One of my favorite all time books is his Cowboys & Buckaroos -Trade Secrets of a North American Icon which describes in detail what real cowboys do and how they do it.
And a new but highly successful magazine called Working Ranch was started by Tim and he serves as editor. The magazine targets ranchers with more than 200 head of beef cattle but is of interest to anyone in the cattle business. I subscribe and learn something valuable with every issue.
My friend Tim and his wife Christine are living in Henderson, Nevada these days.
