Saturday July 27th is National Day of the Cowboy. Below are two celebrations in Roswell and Santa Fe New Mexico and I hope if you live elsewhere you’ll plan some kind of cowboy & cowgirl activity that day.

Cowboys have been part of New Mexico history even before it became a state so it seemed very appropriate to honor the past and current contributions and encourage events to commemorative them.

There are 6,800 livestock producing ranches in New Mexico and with the support organizations and services collectively they employ 18,000 people and produce about $2.1 billion in economic activity each year.

Besides New Mexico, the following states have passed resolutions commemorating this day: Wyoming, California, Arizona, Oklahoma, Oregon, Mississippi, Washington, Texas, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas and Idaho.
